LONESTAR TEXAS HERITAGE NETWORK
Develop the LoneStar Texas Heritage Network designed to promote
and partner with historic sites, museums, and tourism
entities in Gillespie and surrounding counties.
STORY SIGNS
Expansion of the LoneStar Historic Site and Texas Tale Story Signs program to
attract local heritage agencies and non-governmental sites, but private legacy entities as well. Continue to promote and seek LoneStar Historic Trail sites and partners in Gillespie and surrounding counties.
TEXAS HERITAGE MONTH
Establishing October as “Texas Heritage Month” as a dedicated
time to celebrate the spirit, stories, and shared legacy that make
Texas unique. Continue communication with the offices of
State Representative Ellen Troxclair.
LONESTAR HERITAGE FOUNDATION MEMBERSHIP
Continue to support and advocate for new LSHF Members.
Grow the membership base and advocate preserving Texas heritage
and it’s unique stories and places.

STORY SIGNS
Expansion of the LoneStar Historic Site and Texas Tale Story Signs program to attract local heritage agencies and non-governmental sites,
but private legacy entities as well.
An inaugural Historic Site sign was installed at the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, along with a Texas Tales sign outside of the historic Nimitz Hotel(now the centerpiece of the National Museum of the Pacific War) in Fredericksburg, Texas.
INTERPRETIVE CENTER
Supporting and promoting the establishment of a multi-cultural interpretive center at the Fort Martin Scott site.
At the February 17, 2026, City Council meeting, officials reached a unanimous decision to transfer the former Texas Ranger Heritage Center property to the Texas Historical Commission (THC).
THE POWER OF ADVOCACY
This achievement did not happen in a vacuum. The advocacy efforts of the LoneStar Heritage Foundation board members played a meaningful role in securing this outcome. Our board members were deeply engaged throughout the process, ensuring that the vision for a unified historical site remained a priority for local leadership.
FORT PROJECTS
Assisting the Texas Historical Commission with their plans to improve the visitor experience at Fort Martin Scott.
The Foundation has been an essential force behind the effort to have the THC encompass the former Texas Ranger Center along with Fort Martin Scott. Now that this unified management is a reality, LoneStar is taking the next logical step: building the volunteer engine that will power it. By helping form the "Friends Group," LoneStar is securing a dedicated volunteer group for those who want to roll up their sleeves. This is a proud moment for our Foundation—we saw a need for a permanent, site-specific support organization, and we are making it happen.
